Different Types of Roulette Bets
Playing online live roulette can be tricky if you aren’t familiar with the bets that you have open to you. There’s a lot more to roulette than just slapping a few quid on a single number and hoping for the best. As you may have noticed, that doesn’t tend to work out very well. So, let’s look at all the other different types of roulette bets you have open to you and what they pay if you can land them.
Outside bets are the simplest online roulette bets you can make, and therefore the ones most newbies tend to go for. They have the greatest probability of success, and for that reason, they pay-out less to the player.
– Low (1-18) and High (19-36) Bets:
Basically, a bet that the ball will land in a pocket numbered 1-18 or 19-36. High and low bets cough up winnings of 1:1 if landed.
– Red, Black, Odds and Evens:
Another even-money bet, you are essentially betting that the ball will land in a red or black coloured pocket, or in a pocket with an odd or even number. These bets deliver a 1:1 pay rate if successful.
– Dozen Bet:
A dozen bet will see you bet on 1-12, 13-24, or 25-36. Again, landing a ball in a pocket favourable to your bet will see you win. Dozen bets pay at 2:1.
– Column Bet:
With a column bet, players are staking money on one of the three vertical columns of numbers on the betting board, so 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31 and 34, for instance. Columns also pay out at 2:1.
Inside bets are a bit trickier and suffer from a lower degree of probability. However, due to that, they tend to offer up more considerable payouts. Players should understand each bet carefully before wagering on inside bets.
This bet has the least chance of success. You are essentially wagering that the ball will land in a single pocket. Because of this, it pays the best rate, at 35:1.
– Split Bet:
Players can place a bet on the line between two adjoining numbers on the betting board with a split bet. Such as 16 and 17. If the ball lands in either pocket, they can win at a rate of 17:1.
– Street and Trio Bets:
These bets are placed on all three numbers on a horizontal row on the betting board. A good example is 22, 23 and 24. Alternatively, a trio bet involves betting on either 0, 1 and 2, or 00, 2 and 3. These are the only two trio bets available. If the ball lands in a pocket favourable to your bet, you’ll win a rate of 11:1.
– Corner/Square Bet:
Corner bets involve putting your chips down on a corner between four adjoining number. A good example of this would be the adjoining line between 13, 14, 16 and 17. If the ball lands in either of those pockets, you will win a payout of 8:1.
– Six-Line Bet:
Six-lines are essentially two street bets in one. Players would, therefore, be betting on 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 for instance. The chip is placed on the line between the two rows, but on the line where the rightmost column reaches the edge. Six-liners can dish out wins at a rate of 5:1.
Racetrack Types of Roulette Bets
Only a handful of roulette tables contain a racetrack, which appears as a circuit besides the betting board. French roulette games are known for these types of roulette bets. In most cases, you won’t have to worry too much about these bets, since they are seldom offered save for French Roulette. These bets are often known as call bets and involve placing several chips on different parts of the betting board, to essentially cover one-third of the reel. These include…
Players bet 5 chips on 8 numbers. A chip is placed on 1, and the others are split bets between 6 and 9, 14 and 17, 17 and 20, and lastly, 31 and 14. These bets get their name (Orphan) because they are alone in the middle of the wheel.
– Voisins du Zero:
The “Neighbors of Zero” bet involves betting on 17 numbers which are closest to the zero, so from 22 to 25. Two chips are placed on the 0, 2 and 3 trio; single chips are placed on the 4 and 7, 12 and 15, 18 and 21, 19 and 22. Lastly, 32 and 35 split bets, and 2 chips are added to the 25, 26, 28, and 29 corner-bet.
– Tiers du Cylindre:
These “Thirds of the Wheel” bets cover the final third of the wheel, covering numbers stretching from 33 to 27. Chips are placed on the 5 and 8, 10 and 11, 13 and 16, 23 and 24, 27 and 30, 33 and 36 split bets.
